Initially formed in 1995, Iowa Health System is the state's first and largest integrated health-care system, serving one of almost every three patients in Iowa. Iowa Health System includes affiliate hospitals in seven large Iowa communities and Rock Island, Ill., a system of hospitals in 13 rural communities, and group practices of physicians and clinics in 71 communities in Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska. Iowa Health System is one of the largest employers in the state with more than 19,000 employees and annual revenues of almost $2 billion.
